New Business Number

With our recent move (which went very well btw) I now have a new business line. I tried my best to hang on to the old number but I guess it was just not meant to be. So, here it is: 816.347.1485.

BlogLove is Grand

While checking out (read: stalking) other photo blogs for inspiration and to spread the blog love around I came across a great wedding site! It's called Style Me Pretty. It caters to the style-obsessed bride and they have tons of great ideas and photos on there. Check it out! What beautiful weddings! You might just add it to your own list of favorite blogs to read daily.

And don't be afraid to share the blog love, check out other blogs and post comments if you really like what you see! We all love getting feedback. It's the modern-day version of getting a sweet hand-written letter in the mail.

1.12.2008 | Brenda + Mike's Ceremony

Last Saturday I was called upon to shoot this intimate ceremony for Brenda & Mike at the Loch Lloyd Country Club. They are having their reception in March and I can't wait to see them again for it. All their friends and family will be there to celebrate with them. They made me feel like a part of the family instantly so I know it will be a great time.

The ceremony was in the dining room in the gazebo which let in the cool evening light.

A simple and relaxed day. They were all so laid back.
Brenda's mother was there to witness this occasion, as well as the couple's 3 sons.
Ahh, the flames of love. ;o)

1.5.2008 | Meagan + Nathan's Wedding

A couple weekends ago I had the privilege of photographing Nathan & Meagan's wedding in Oak Grove, Missouri. What a way to start off the new year! It was a really nice day for the beginning of January and they are such a happy couple.

Good luck in your new life together, you two! Enjoy every minute of it!

Here are some of my favorites from their wintry day:

I love the expression on this little girl's face. She had this adorable smile every time she looked at Meagan.
The Gerber daisies added so much color to this winter day.
The sweetest thing: Nathan could not hold back his tears of joy.

A kiss outside the church.

Puzzle fun

I thought for this cold & dreary winter day I'd add some fun to my blog. Here is a photo I took this past summer at the Kansas City Zoo. Have fun putting the turtle back together!

The Derakhshanians

Here is the Derakhshanian family as promised... and you thought my last name was long! Natasha & I are in the long-last-names club. It's very exclusive. ;o) I met up with the fam in mid-December for this great outdoor shoot on the Plaza. Some might call them a bunch of ham bones... and I would have to agree. It was a really nice day and everyone had a blast being goofy and playing it up for the camera. All shoots are meant to be this fun!

Here is Grandmother. I think she is just beautiful. The camera loves Nily
Guess who the biggest ham is?
Here I got a couple shots of some Plaza window-shopping. I love her red scarf & Natasha & Nily are so cute!
These have got to be the greatest steps in the city. I love how they're all striking a pose.
Overlooking the steps. You can see the string of the famous Plaza lights. I love the warm evening light as they look at.... um... I hope they're not staring at the sun...
At the top of the steps under the pretty arched gate.

Wait a minute... is there room for the photographer in there??
I saw a sign inside a Gap window that said "EMBRACE" so I grabbed Natasha & said "hug someone!"

Update of things to come

While things have been pretty quiet here on the blog for the last month (yeesh, has it really been that long?), real life has been quite another story.

Mid-December (yes, outdoor portraits in the winter!) I had the pleasure of meeting up with a great friend of mine to do a photo session on the Plaza with her family while her sis was in town from NC. I will have those photos on here shortly. They were such a silly bunch! I always have so much fun with them!

Last Saturday, January 5th, I shot a wedding alongside my mom, Karen, who is also a photographer (http://www.liliesofthefieldphoto.com/), at the Oak Grove Baptist Church for Meagan & Nathan's wedding. Thankfully the day was really nice for the beginning of January & the weather was fairly mild. We were so worried, with the way December had been every weekend, that the wedding would be full of ice and snow. For example, here it is January 8th and yesterday it was in the 60's & today it's snowing! You just never know!

I can't wait to post photos of their wedding & as soon as I'm done editing you will get a peek of their day.

Besides portraits and weddings (Ahh, wedding planning season has finally arrived!) we are in the process of moving to a new house which has become a rather large project of fixing things up (somehow there's this odd snowball effect with renovations--why is that?? I'm almost certain there's some sort of law named for this phenomena) and packing in order to move in 2 weeks. Thankfully our list of things to do is getting shorter & more manageable!

Then, when I am all caught up with the above things and let you all get a glimpse of the recent events going on maybe, just maybe, I'll have time to post some pics from our family vacation during the 1st week in October! And that is embarrassing it's been so long & still have not had time to even look at all the pictures I took... (can you hear me weeping?) But, that's the way real life goes sometimes! ;o)

Until next time...take care!
